We have helped many people in Naperville, IL year after year who were suffering with back problems, and some of those folks had been diagnosed with a herniated disc. Previous research has established that chiropractic adjustments can be an excellent way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the low back and other researchers have confirmed that it can relieve herniations in the neck, too.

Now a recent case report adds to our knowledge of the benefits of chiropractic care for disc herniations. This study discusses a 45-year-old woman who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The patient described a worsening of the radicular pain down her right leg, and also reported occasional prickling in her right foot. These are all signs of neurological issues, and are serious symptoms.

The individual sought help from a chiropractic physician, who managed the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The therapy consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an extra four weeks of home exercises and rehabilitation.

The patient documented a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."

This case study confirms what we see in our Naperville, IL office: chiropractic is great for reducing the pain of disc herniations without pills or high-risk surgery.
